CTA "L" Train System : Brown Line, Purple Line & Holiday Train Action @ Sedgwick Station
Here's another video from my trip back in 2023 to Chicago to check out the Holiday Bus & Train festivities, this time, at Sedgwick Station on the Brown & Purple lines. Sedgwick Station became one of my favorite stations in the system due to the curves and just the overall look and length of the station.
What you'll see here are several trains of Budd 2600-series cars and Morrison-Knudsen 3200-Series cars on the Brown Line that are either mixed consists or regular consists, Bombardier 5000-Series cars on the Purple line, and the Allstate Holiday Train operating on the Purple Line all making their way through Sedgwick Station.

Did you know that bus 1805(Li mta bus) was never reapaired.

Would you recommend this spot for railfanning? I am considering coming down to a station in Long Island.
It's a pretty busy station, you can get trains going to Hempstead, Ronkonkoma, Huntington and even some diesel action to Oyster Bay and Port Jefferson. It's a pretty good station to fan.

I'm from the UK and I'd like to say that your buses look really cool totally different to the buses here & what is the flashing lights on the front of the bus for
The one on top is a light bar for drivers and pedestrians to see when the bus is coming.

Was hurricane sandy worse than 9/11 from the MTA transit ?
There was more damage done to the subways during and after Hurricane Sandy than 9/11. So in theory, yes. Two tunnels were underwater, a station was completely underwater with so much damage that it needed a rebuild, the A line between Howard Beach and Broad Channel was destroyed.

So hybrid buses were a thing in the US from the early 2000s? The first ones here wasn't till 2005 or so even then they didn't become mainstream till after 2012/13
Late 90s-Early 2000s for us here in NYC. We had ten Orion VI Hybrid prototype buses in 1998 and they ran for a few years, which ended up leading us to these Orion VIIs. We also had two prototype Nova Bus RTS Hybrids in 1999-2000, but were withdrawn from service due to numerous issues with those buses, along with Nova Bus leaving the US market at the time.

Awesome video. I gotta tell you that Downtown crossing is one of my favorite subway stations in Boston. But my most favorite line is the red line trains. My favorite red line trains is the 1800 series. Keep it up for more mbta red line views.
Retired already? Dam the GMC RTS's seemed to have lasted MUCH longer than these. These appear to be in great shape to go to mothballs. What I fondly remember about these is the torque! I believe there was an issue with the excessive torque and passengers falling as a result upon their debut. Correct me if Im wrong but I believe it was THIS model right here.
CNG tanks have an expiration date. When the tanks expire, so do the buses. They could re-tank the fleet with new tanks, but getting new buses would be cheaper in the long run.
I like those better than 2021-2024 LFS Reason: Outside propulsion, nicer LCDs
